Google Business Profile suspended? Do this first (and avoid the mistake 70% make)
Your profile is gone from Maps and Search, the calls stopped, and Google's email says almost nothing. Breathe: most suspensions of real businesses are recoverable — but the first 24 hours decide whether yours takes days or months.
First: which suspension do you have?
A soft suspension means your profile is unverified but still visible — you lost management access. A hard suspension means the profile is removed from Maps and Search entirely. Search your exact business name plus city in an incognito window: still visible? Soft. Gone? Hard. The reinstatement request is the same form, but the evidence bar for hard suspensions is much higher.
The first 24 hours
- Don't touch the profile. Panic-editing fields after a suspension looks like evasion to the filters.
- Don't create a new profile. Duplicates violate guidelines and can kill both. This is the mistake that turns a fixable case into a permanent one.
- Diagnose the likely trigger. Recent name/address/category edit? Rebrand? Virtual office address? Keywords stuffed into the business name? Your appeal must answer the actual question the reviewer will ask.
- Gather evidence before filing. Business registration (KvK or equivalent), utility bill at the address, storefront and signage photos, vehicle branding for service-area businesses. One complete submission beats three partial ones.
- Then file the reinstatement request — once, complete, factual.
What kills reinstatement cases
Creating a duplicate profile. Filing three thin appeals instead of one complete one. Pleading (“my business is dying”) instead of evidencing. Lying about a virtual office. And paying a “reinstatement agency” €300–€1,500 to fill in the same form you can fill in yourself — there is no backdoor at Google, whatever their sales page implies.

- How long does Google Business Profile reinstatement take?
- Typically days to a few weeks per review round. The most common delay is incomplete evidence forcing a second round — submit the full document set the first time.
- Should I create a new Google Business Profile while suspended?
- No. Duplicate profiles violate Google's guidelines and can get both profiles removed. It's the single most case-killing move.
- Why was my profile suspended if I did nothing wrong?
- Most suspensions are algorithmic: a recent edit (name, address, category), a rebrand, an address change, or patterns that resemble spam. The suspension email rarely says which — diagnosis is step one.
